Default So I want to buy a gamecube

First things first: No fanboyism.

Anyway, I've come across 450 bucks and I want to blow it all on a gamecube and a bunch of games. So far I've decided what to get for games but the problem is the cube. I want to get a bundle so It comes with a game, however I can't find the right one. I've found one with Super smash bros. Melee, One with a pokemon game, those are 99.99, Then I found one where I can choose any gamers choice game, for 139.99 Which dosen't make any sense since the game I want to get with that bundle is only 20 bucks, and a cube alone is 99.

So heres my plight, if anyone feels like being helpful, find me the BEST gamecube deal possible. Ebay isn't an option, I want brand new. Thanks!

Have fun playing mario kart variant #45. I hear the metroid games on that were the shit, but as for the other stuff, just play them all on your windows computer with a decent emulator and a gamepad, and use your hard earned cash to buy a better pc upgrade or something. Or save it, thats even more logical and lucrative...LOL...

If you are hellbent on your enterprise, here are some searches I did for you:

http://auctions.overstock.com/cgi-bi...DRIVERSOURCE=b

This one is $100 and its badass Plat Design:
Nintendo video game system
Includes one controller, manuals, and cables to connect to the TV
4 game controller ports built in
Compact design

Smash Brothers is the game. Of course, all the people in my section of the dorm are adicted to it...
Metriod Prime 1/2 are also solid games. Good luck finding that deal. Also, remember that the X-Box 360 is coming out in like 5 days, so there might be a chance the price of a cube could drop a bit to market against that.
If you really want to save money, you could just wait till march and the release of the Nintendo Revolution and get a cube real cheap then.

I own a GC and highly recommend it.

Looks like the currently available bundles are Mario Party 7, Super Smash Brothers, and Pokemon XD. Between those three, I'd pick Smash Brothers. I've had it for about a year and still play it a couple hours a week, trying to unlock every last little thing.

If you have the cash to spare (and if the games you're choosing are multiplayer), I recommend getting 4 controllers, immediately. That's if you're interested in having friends over to play the games with you...the GC is a heck of a lot of fun with friends. Most fun I've ever had playing video games.

Also, make sure you get at least one memory card.

Just out of curiosity, which games are you planning on getting? Maybe we can recommend some alternatives...in case some you've picked out aren't all that great (every console has a few...or more).

And on an aside, where are you buying them? If it's Best Buy, you could save $5 on every purchase $19.99 or above. Requires you to purchase a gift card at BB, the gift card with the coupon on the back that says '$5 off any video game or accessory $19.99 or higher'. Then use that gift card *and* the coupon to purchase said game/accessory. I've used that technique for just about any game related purchase at BB, including the GW Collector's Edition.

About the XB360...I'd wait at least 6 months before buying into that. Things are looking rather lackluster and disappointing for the launch. Unless you're a fanboy, in which case you already have it preordered.

I think you can get a Gamecube for around £40/$70 second hand on it's own with a controller and cables. but if it's a new package you're looking for...

Let me post best deals you can buy in a sec I'm searching on it

OK... EB games has bundles of Pokemon XD and Mario Party 7 for $100, but you also need to store some data and get more people around right?

A memory card 1,019 block storage gamescard costs $30 and a combination of 3 more games controllers comes to $45.

that means, you'll have around $275 to spend on other games to buy for your needs, and your friends to party sometime.

Hope this helps!

There is a game that's consider one of the best anime rpg on the CG and I'm forgetting the name of it dang it.

gah... tip of my tung. Eternal something... part of the Tales of Destiny series (like Final Fantasy no game is the same universe X / X-2 being the only exception).

That's a pretty solid list. Looks like a majority are single-player, so extra controllers aren't that big of an issue. If you're into single-player and horror-adventure type games, I hear Resident Evil 4 is the best it can get.

One thing to note is that the Mario Party 7 bundle comes with 2 controllers for $99.99. Just saying...

Also, don't forget a memory card. You'll need it.

If you're going to get a GC and if you like RPG's... definately pick up Skies of Arcadia Legends. Yes it's basically a Dreamcast port, but it's still an outstanding RPG and includes several tweaks and expanded backstory over the DC version.

Metroid Prime is simply amazing... buy it. 'Nuff said. Prime 2 however is just decent. I didn't really get into the whole "light/dark" thing... it seemed like too much of a gimmick to extend the game without building a truly bigger game world.

Forget Mario Party. If you want something to gather the friends and family around, Super Monkey Ball 2 is what you want. It's a lot more fun, a lot more original, and it's got monkeys. What else do you need? And I hope I don't have to explain why you should get Super Smash Brothers: Melee.

Pokemon XD is garbage... please do yourself a favor and stay away. Stick with Skies, or Tales of Symphonia if you want an RPG experience. XD will bore you to tears with it's tedium. If you want to play Pokemon, stick to the GBA where it's actually GOOD.

Wind Waker is, of course, outstanding. Don't let the naysayers deter you with the "cartoony graphics" line. It's a beautiful game, and classic 3D Zelda all the way through. It even has a pretty good story, which is rare for a Zelda game IMO. Definately a must buy.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is also something you should look at getting. It didn't sell well, but trust me when I tell you it's an outstanding game. Based loosely on HP Lovecraft, it's a psychological adventure game. The special effects that occur when your character goes insane almost make the game worth it by themselves. If you can find it, you can get it real cheap... so check it out.

I think it's Tales of Symphonia now that someone has mentioned it.

Quoted for absolute truth.

Mario Kart: Double Dash is also a lot of fun with friends. I like the whole teamwork aspect on that one.

Don't forget about the Best Buy gift card ploy I explained above...easy way to get your $19.99 Player's Choice games for $14.99.

Double Dash just lacks depth. There aren't enough tracks, and the tracks are pretty dull. I lost interest in it after a month or so. And without other people to play it with, it's really not much fun at all.

i have the first metroid prime for the cube and almost beat the game, then the memory card had a failure and deleted EVERYTHING on it. Man was ipissed lol. I haven't really touched it since. But every now and then my friends play super smash bros which is by far the best game. Also, the snowboardinggames are fun. 1080 is pretty cool, but it isnt as realistic as the first one.

All you really need is 4 controllers and Super Smash Brother's Melee...
My best friend has added over 2000 hours on it o.o

Even though Soul Calibur 3 is coming out, 2 is still VERY GOOD. Especially with cheap Link.

I thought SC3 was going to remain a PS2 exclusive? I never heard anything about a 'Cube or Xbox release for it.

Eternal Darkness was a game I rented and wish I had bought. An outstanding game and the story ties up EVERYTHING in the end. It was simply brilliant.

Resident Evil 4 is a must buy for the Cube. The gameplay and graphics are outstanding and you will definately be on edge at all times running.

SSBM is of course a no brainer. At my college everyone plays that in the "Roost" area. Always a ton of fun.

Donkey Konga is a fun game and once you get people into it is a fun ride. Only thing is it is hard to get people to join in and take time to learn it.

Tales of Symphonia is a solid RPG with a ton to do. Not to mention the fighting is amazingly intuitive and fun. Story is fairly solid and is definately the better RPG on the CUBE.

Baten Kaitos I never really cared for the characters and got about 6 hours or so into it and decided to return it back to blockbuster.

Skies of Arcadia is a game you shouldnt miss. I never had it for the cube, but I did play it for a very long time getting everything on the Dreamcast. If you want to play an RPG and havent touched this on the Cast then I assure you this is one you wont put down anytime soon.

Metroid Prime 1/2 I played Metroid Prime and was addicted to it. Trying to find all the upgrades and just having fun being Samus was a blast. I never got around to 2 but I heard it was even better. I may pick it up some time soon and give it a shot.

If you have any time for imports and want a fun 4 player fighter you may look into the Naruto series. They have 1,2,3 (I have 2 and 3) and 4 is coming out I think next week or very very soon. Yesterday we played it for 4 hours straight, and this is also a game played at my college even more than smash bros. Then again we have alot of anime peeps in there lol.

Mario Kart DD, what can I say? I had three other friends over almost every day when I first had this bad boy. We spent HOURS unlocking and beating everything. The single player campaign type races can be done with friends, so we helped eachother out. The teamwork and strategy used in that game is nearly endless and is so much better with friends. Still solid if you are alone.

Windwaker As stated above do NOT let the cel shaded graphics turn you off. When I first saw the screenshots YEARS ago I was skeptical. I kept an open mind, and when playing the demo at EB games I was hooked and knew it was something. It is a classic zelda game and the graphics make objects really animated and come to life. It is a must play as well.

Pikmin 1/2 Played and loved them both, but they are rentals. You get the just of the game, see how creative and fun it is, and then you are done with no replay value. Great rental.

Animal Crossing was a game that I bought and, for me at least, got old really fast. No online play limits this game to you and a bunch of NPC's bleh. The DS game may be interesting, I will have to wait and see.

Metal Gear Solid on the game cube did not do it for me. Then again I did not give it much of a chance. I rented it with my rental pass, popped it in and instantly returned it there after. I loved the Original MGS on the PS1 but this one was just bleh.

Harvest Moon I was looking so forward to playing. Im glad I rented before I bought. The graphics are not really up to par, and the gameplay is extremely repetative and its lacking in depth. I was dissapointed in it and I gave it a good amount of play time too. It just did not pull me in like the GB versions did.

I have owned and played many games thoughout the gamecubes life and these are some of the ones I would say are must plays. I may be missing a few if anyone has any other additions please feel free to refresh my memory!

LOL I just picked up a PS2 recently. Why? Because there are games on there that I really wanted to play and I cant play anywhere else. The XBOX 360 has nothing that interests me that a PC cant already do, but better
